Medal galore for CCBC at Evesham Regatta

The Boat Club had a great day of racing at Evesham Regatta on Saturday, with strong performances across the board. Crews battled headwinds and tight competition over the 1000m course, showing grit and teamwork throughout.

The J14 boys' quad started the day strong with an easy win in their first round. Sam kept this momentum going in his single, flying through his first race. Unfortunately, the tricky wind and course steering overcame the boys’ and girls’ J15 doubles, all getting knocked out in their first round. But Sam and the J14s brought more success, winning their semi-finals cleanly. Sam, despite rowing up an age group, had a fantastic final. Sam finished 2nd but fought hard to the finish – well done! The J14s boys brought home the first win of the day after defeating Evesham RC by three lengths!

The afternoon division brought more success for the club with all crews reaching their finals. Our J16 girls’ double of Eden and Georgia were first to race their final. All their hard work in training showed, flying off the start and leading the race, the girls came out on top against Evesham RC! Stellar work. Next, the J16 boys’ doubles gave us some excitement with a Cheltenham-Cheltenham final. The crews consisting of Navid and Max, and Will and Josh, had a lot of fun and fight in their race. Some unfortunate steering for Max and Navid gave Will and Josh the edge to take the lead and ultimately win the race. Well done both boats! Finally, the J15 boys’ quad took to the course against a well drilled Stratford-Upon-Avon crew. Our boys had a clean and sharp start, giving them an early lead. They maintained their composure and widened the gap to bring home the last win of the day – great work boys!

Shout out to Henry who also raced the short course on Sunday, coming 2nd in the J15 singles.

A solid showing from our club and a great start to the regatta season!
