Farewell to Jed and welcome to Cat and continued thanks to Mark
At the end of this term we say farewell to Jeremy “Jed” Greenhouse, he has given so much to College rowing and it will be a big loss. He’s been supported over the years by Mark Trotman, Mark will be continuing at College and be taking on the added responsibility of the Boat House. As we all know the Boat House is a wonderful asset for College and often under appreciated.
We are very exctited that Catriona “Cat” Norval will be taking on the role of interim Head of Rowing. She’s a resident tutor in Boyne House and comes with a strong rowing pedigree. It’s great news for rowing at College that she will be leading the coaching team.
Jed said of his departure:
“Having spent ten years as Boatman and Head of Rowing at CCBC, I feel it is now time for me to move on to pastures new. This has not been an easy decision: I have had some amazing times at the College and have been proud to help develop the Boat Club and its athletes, some of whom have gone on to achieve great success at club and national level.
Around four years ago I helped introduce rowing to the Prep School, which has proved very popular and has opened our sport to younger pupils before they step up into College life.
I will be leaving the Boat Club in the very capable hands of Miss Catriona Norval and Mr Mark Trotman. I will also remain available, whenever possible, to offer advice and help with coaching and boat maintenance, and I look forward to attending Alumni Club functions.
The Alumni Club is pivotal in securing the future of rowing at the College, especially in the current climate of tightening budgets and shifting priorities. We must preserve and pass on the culture, history, and continuity of CCBC.”
Cat says:
“I am very much looking forward to stepping into the role of Acting Head of Rowing after the Easter break. I’m excited to contribute to the continued development of our program, supporting our athletes at every stage of their journey while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.”
Tim Watts, Director of Sport:
Catriona has substantial experience, having been a member of the GB Performance Development Academy and Scottish Rowing Performance Programme, competed ar Henley Royal and Henley Women’s Regatta on numerous occasions. Catriona was also a Senior GB Rowing Trialist, and has competed at the Netherlands Koninklike-Holland Beker Regatta, Ghent International Regatta and was Scottish Rowing Regatta Senior Runner-Up. The boat club is in good hands, and we look forward to Catriona alongside Mark Trotman, who will take on the boatman role, driving the sport forward here at College.
As Jed remarks, the Alumni Club is a key support if we are to see rowing continue at College, please let us know if and how you would like to be involved.
For now, enjoy half term for those at College or elsewhere and we look forward to getting back to training soon.
